During these cold winter months most people go into a state of hibernation, or at least we tend to think we do! But seasonal depression is linked to these cold winter days/nights. Not to mention the ending of the semester to include more papers, presentations, finals, and of course, waiting for that dreaded day when your grades actually show up in UDSIS! Am I depressing you yet? I hope not, but if you are, don't worry your not alone!
Now you might ask, why am I writing about this in a multimedia blog? Simple. Studies are now showing that multimedia designing/creating has the same beneficial attributes as art therapy. In common terms, it helps to reduce stress and anxiety the same way art can, minus the paint and brushes. The stress reduction is in the creating, the expression of the piece, and the act of selecting colors, forms and tools, all which art creation entails!
So the next time your blue and down, stop on by the Student Multimedia Design Center, and hop onto one of our computers (all are stocked with wonderful programs) that you can use, for free! No need to worry, we can help you too!
