Customers of the new iPad have been posting on Apple comment boards since the item went on sale last week commenting on how the back of the device can become extremely warm. Some reports event indicate that the product can get up to 116 degrees, particularly in the bottom left-hand corner when the user holds the pad in portrait mode. I actually experienced this when I was at the Apple store getting a repair and I was playing with one of the new iPads. It's not hot as much as it is warm, and definitely not uncomfortable. 116º F really isn't that hot, even though it sounds like a lot.
