Epson Scanner and Mac issue: "No device recognized"

A student was recently attempting to import files on a Mac using a portable Epson scanner. She got the error that no device was recognized even though the scanner was turned on and plugged into the computer. If this happens, you must go to "Applications" and click on "Epson Scanner". The Mac will then recognize the device and will be able to import scanned files.
