5 User Friendly PowerPoint Tips

PowerPoint can be very daunting and absolutely terrifying to use especially if you don't use it frequently. Here is a website, Must-Know PowerPoint Tips, that can help you learn some very simple user techniques as well as simple user friendly tips that can help ease your frustration.

Here are some of my personal tips. I hope you find them as useful as I do, Enjoy!

1) Set a theme. If you want a nice presentation without knowing much find a theme and stick with it! Having a nice consistent presentation always wins points!

2) Don't get lost in bullet lists. NASA even had issues with this! Too many bullets can lose your audience. Break down your lists, if you have a lot of information trying breaking them up and onto multiple pages.

3) Use images, charts, or graphics. Nothing is better than having an image to reference as you explain your presentation, just don't go overboard!

4) Pick your fonts and stick with them. Nothing is more distracting than too many fonts. Go with the basics: Title, Header and Sub-headers, or as my old professor would say, pick three and no more.

5) Don't be afraid to try something new. Despite our need to conform with the rest of our classmates, make a statement by trying something new. Try a new format, a different font, color palette, graphics, it really doesn't matter as long as you include your wonderful research!

Again, these are my personal recommendations on creating an exciting, user-friendly PowerPoint presentation! But don't forget to be yourself and have fun with your project, if you enjoy it, it will show in your presentation!

  1. I like these tips! Here's another:

When projecting onto low screens, shift critical content out of the bottom quarter of the frame to avoid having heads block the view, especially if audience members lack printed handouts.
