For Mac users in Powerpoint
It seems that the latest Mac-based version of PowerPoint (PowerPoint for Mac 2011) does not have the ability to directly embed YouTube videos into slides. The one workaround I know of involves converting the video to a file type compatible with Macs (Quicktime's MOV format) before opening it in PowerPoint. Are there any regular Mac users that have a better solution to this issue?

I have a solution that does not require converting, and will work cross-platform (Windows or Mac). It might seem complex at first, but really isn't too hard and will work on any modern computer.
ReplyDelete1. Open Mozilla Firefox browser and go to Tools->Add-ons in the menubar. Search Add-ons for "DownloadHelper", and install it. Restart Firefox.
2. Go to youtube.com, find your video and pause it.
3. Go back to tools in the menubar and now there will be an option for "DownloadHelper". Go to DownloadHelper->Media and choose one of the options that ends in .mp4, and download the file to the same place you will save your presentation.
4. Add the mp4 to your presentation.
