When finished recording on Audacity, it is important to
EXPORT the project. Audacity automatically saves a project as an ‘Audacity
Project File’ or ‘.aup’ – a file format that only Audacity can read.
Under the ‘File’ tab, there will be an option to export what
has just been recorded. After clicking ‘Export,’ there will be a drop-down
allowing the project to be exported to one of the various file formats. Once
the format is selected and the project has been named, click ‘save.’
*The most common format is MP3 – you will be able to open to
this file on almost any device and/or program.
Most of the time there will be a pop-up after clicking ‘save
project as,’ that warns users of this particular format, but if/when this
warning doesn’t show up, knowing how to export the project will be helpful.
