Just a general reminder that like all of our other equipment we need to make sure we go through the necessary steps when checking a laptop in or out to someone. It's very simple and should only take an extra 30 seconds or so than it normally does.
1. Turn the computer on. (make sure that the laptop turns on and connects to the internet!
2. Put the computer in sleep mode (DO NOT just close the laptop, although rare, this can sometimes lead the computer to go into what I call "eternal slumber". In this case the only way to wake it up is to do a force shutdown.)
3. Continue checkout like normal through both the checklist and ALEPH!
When Checking the laptop back in, just repeat steps 1 - 3, only this time, shut down the computer instead of putting it to sleep and don't forget to put the charge time on the cabinet (Just add 4 hours to the current time). That's it, it's that simple!
Thanks for the wonderful guide Jason!
ReplyDeleteExcellent synopsis! Someone has been checking computers in without writing the time + 4 hours. It's really helpful to record a time (not just a line) in the box to show when a computer should be fully recharged.
